Dear Reader,My father was born in Poland. He came to New York, in 1922, put himself through law school, bought a house in the suburbs. I grew up playing stickball and became a writer. My son went to Yale and is an international aid worker.
This transformative voyage of families, this phenomenon of change and adaptation is what I wanted to write about in this novel. It is a dramatic and fascinating story.
