Marta Acosta

Dear Librarian,

MIDNIGHT BRUNCH continues the wildly comic adventures of Milagro de los Santos, a graduate of a Fancy University who finds herself living in a nest of urbane vampires. Milagro, a struggling writer, always refers to literature for guidance, from Bronte to Melville to Waugh, with decidedly mixed results.

I wanted to write a novel that was fun and accessible to novice readers; provides wit and craft for sophisticated readers; and introduces a funny, ethical, and bright Latina protagonist who appeals to all readers.

The first novel in the series, Happy Hour at Casa Dracula, was a Book Sense Pick and Catalina Magazine’s Humor Book of 2006. Christopher Moore called it “a comedy of manners with fangs” and Julia Spencer-Fleming described it as “darkly hilarious…Acosta flings every vampire cliché out the window.”

I hope that you will recommend MIDNIGHT BRUNCH to readers interested in a comic novel with a paranormal twist.

Thanks for your support!
Marta
