Christie Barnes
Dear Librarian,
For every parent who has ever worried...
Parents, like me, have been scared into "parenting from fear." News stories repeated hourly makes rare tragedies seem commonplace, as if every danger could happen in every neighborhood every day and parents should be on the constant lookout for every possible threat.
Surveys show what parents think are their top worries should actually be at the bottom of their worry list. Parents are missing simple threats that are easily fixed.
We want to be Supermom or Superdad, protecting our kids from every danger, physical and psychological. Protecting from every imagined evil has taken over wider positive aspects of parenting.
Start "parenting from the facts". I wrote a serious reference book with parent-survival humor, giving the straight facts on the likely threats and how to fix them.
Worry less,
Christie Barnes
