Kiara Brinkman

Dear Librarian,

One in every one-hundred-and-fifty children is diagnosed with autism, according to a recent statistic. In my debut novel, UP HIGH IN THE TREES, the voice of my fearless, young narrator will ring true for those who know a child on the autistic spectrum.

Eight-year-old Sebby Lane experiences the world more vividly than most. He has lost his mother and misses her so acutely that he begins to dream and even re-live moments of her life.

Dave Eggers said: “Brinkman’s portrait of Sebby and his family is humane and uncompromising . . . and, in the end, we root for Sebby as if he were our own.”

For more information, please visit my website, www.kiarabrinkman.com, and feel free to contact me directly at kb.inthetrees@gmail.com. I’m happy to visit any library within driving distance of the Bay Area and can call-in to places out of my reach.

Sincerely,
Kiara Brinkman
