Debra Farrington

Dear Librarian,

Did you know that 63% of U.S. households have at least one pet? We used to think of them as “just pets” but today more and more people think of them as beloved members of the family. According to industry estimates we’ll spend 38 billion on pets this year.

Maybe you’ve read about how that these beloved companions can help children learn to read. In my local library children with reading disabilities read to dogs and develop stronger skills. That’s only one of the ways in which animals and people are helping one another.

The bonds between animals and people have never been stronger. For all of those who love animals I’ve written ALL GOD'S CREATURES, a book filled with stories of the saints and the animals, as well as prayers, blessings, and practical advice for animal lovers. Publishers Weekly called it “a new perspective on the domestic animals we love so much.” I hope you’ll add it to your collection.
