Brad Geagley
Dear Librarian,
As a former library page, I still sort my books by the Dewey Decimal System. In fact, whenever my alarm clock flashes 9:32, I think "Egypt...!"
Now I've written a couple of novels of my own.
They're mysteries set in the ancient world (930). My detective is Semerket, modeled on the film sleuths of the 40's (791.4). He first appeared in YEAR OF THE HYENAS, where he discovered a shocking plot in ancient Thebes. In my sequel, DAY OF THE FALSE KING, Semerket is sent to Babylon (935) to confront more shady doings.
I know librarians will appreciate the research in the books. But don't think they're heavy tomes that will tax your staff's ability to sort and shelve them. As David Pitt writes in Booklist...
"Geagley continues to demonstrate an unerring ability to combine history and adventure seamlessly, making us feel as though we've visited another time and place without overwhelming us with period detail or great clots of historical exposition. Bring on more Semerket adventures!"
Happy reading from a former library staffer!
