Kathleen Givens
Dear Librarian,
Thank you! It was in a Carnegie library in Rome, Georgia, that I decided to become a writer. A librarian with infinite patience took the time to guide my reading. She suggested that I read Little Women and changed my life forever. I was nine when I read the book; ten when I re-wrote it for my sister and me. In my version Jo marries Laurie and no one dies. My dream came true and now I write lush, epic historicals, stories of love, war, and turbulent change.
ON A HIGHLAND SHORE, my latest work, is set in 13th century Scotland and tells the story of Margaret MacDonald’s struggle to hold her family together as her world falls apart. Where danger lurks at every turn, where who a woman marries can determine not only her fate, but also that of her entire clan. Where a sister's love and courage might not be enough to hold the wolves back from the door.
I am available in person or by phone, for readers groups and library events. Email me at Kathleen@kathleengivens.com.
