Living in a trailer in the American Southwest, I attended twelve schools in eleven years. My mom was a wild rose who struggled with marriage, motherhood and sobriety. She often put me in charge of my five younger sisters while she sought solace in local watering holes, a pastime she dubbed "visiting Timbuktu."

My memoir explores the landscapes of hope, despair and redemption.
