Charles Holdefer
Dear Librarian,
A starred review in Booklist describes THE CONTRACTOR as "a compelling mix of thriller, psychodrama, and yes, political commentary."
It has been selected as a "Book Sense Pick" for November by the American Booksellers Assocation.
I wrote THE CONTRACTOR because I'm a concerned American who thinks we've taken a seriously wrong turn in our policies toward torture.
It's the story of George Young, a solid family man and Gulf War veteran who accepts work as a private contractor who interrogates detainees.
Publishers Weekly called it "a valuable entry in the Gitmo field" and according to Margaret Satterthwaite of The Center for Human Rights and Global Justice at NYU, "it's an impressive and moving portrayal of the secret detention and interrogation system."
Bless librarians for getting the word out.
