Jennifer Kaufman and Karen Mack
Dear Librarian,
Last year LITERACY AND LONGING IN LA won the 2006 Best Fiction Award from the Southern California Booksellers Assoc. It was a LA Times Bestseller for 15 weeks landing at Number One. If we’ve had any success at all, it’s because of your gracious support, and the fact that our heroine, Dora (named after Eudora Welty) is one of us---a fellow book lover.
Janet Maslin (NY Times) said “Ms Kaufman and Ms. Mack have used reading itself as their books source of sex appeal…the fusion of bibliomania and romantic comedy is appealingly offbeat.”
People magazine called it one of “Summer’s Hottest Reads--A page turner.”
Our book struck a chord with all those who use books for solace and inspiration. And with those who enjoy the over two hundred literary references cataloged in the back.
Thank you to all the libraries who have kindly invited us to speak and the librarians who have embraced our book.
Look for our book in paperback this June and our second book called A VERSION OF THE TRUTH in January 2008. Signed copies? Books clubs visited? We are gratefully yours at www.literacyandlonginginla.com.
Warmest Regards,
Karen and Jennifer
