Gary Chapman

Dear Reader,

As a counselor for more than three decades, I have probed the questions: Why are some people loving, kind, and caring while others are harsh, rude, and self-centered? What are the characteristics of loving people, and how are they developed? LOVE AS A WAY OF LIFE seeks to answer those questions.

Deep within most people is the desire to leave our corner of the world better than we found it. We want to be altruistic and caring. I call this the 'true self'. But there is also a 'false self' that pulls us to be self-centered. My observation is that at the end of life, the most satisfied people are those who developed the 'true self'.

In LOVE AS A WAY OF LIFE, I identify seven characteristics of love, which when pursued will lead to genuine satisfaction.
