Timothy Schaffert
Dear Reader,
I think of my novel, DEVILS IN THE SUGAR SHOP, as a book for book lovers. Among the cast of characters are a pair of literary twenty-something twins who own a bookstore, and a frustrated novelist who conducts erotica-writing workshops in her living room. And though I like to cite modernist novels as the inspiration for DEVILS IN THE SUGAR SHOP—such as Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway and D. H. Lawrence’s Women in Love—I also recall the soap operas of the 1970s that I watched with my mother each summer, every day, all day long. We’d crank up the air-conditioner, drink Coke floats, and brutally psychoanalyze the characters.
I can offer five free copies total. Please email mele@unbridledbooks.com. And I'd love to chat with your book club, should you find yourself inclined to read DEVILS IN THE SUGAR SHOP, which Library Journal likened to “an expensive box of chocolates…luscious and approvingly decadent.”
Yours truly,
Timothy Schaffert
