What to Buzz?

• Buzz readers & booksellers & librarians that you do phone calls or virtual visits (via Skype or other internet video services) with book groups.

• Buzz what inspired you to write the book.

• Buzz librarians and let them know you're available to speak to book groups and writing groups and appear at fundraisers in particular geographic areas. (Libraries love having authors but don't typically get approached by publicists and don't have the resources to find us.)

• Buzz all three groups that you're offering free-signed bookplates or free ARCs or a special contest.

• Buzz all three groups that you that you've just gotten an award to rekindle excitement in your book.

• Buzz booksellers that you'd happy to drive to any store in a particular geographic area and have breakfast with the staff (on you) to tell them about your new title.

• Buzz librarians about the same. So often, librarians are overlooked: like booksellers, they, too, would like to meet authors and illustrators. Many libraries have monthly meetings with librarians from their town/region – let them know that you've available to talk about issues that matter to them.

• Buzz booksellers about the other books that influenced your new title and why you think it would be a smart marketing move to display them along with your new title.

• Buzz your website URL, your email (if you would like to list it) and invite visitors to read a new excerpt, a free short story, or your blog.

• Buzz your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Flickr and other social networking media sites.

• Buzz about a compelling character or aspect from your novel.

• Buzz about a tie-in – historical anniversary, subject's birthday, news happening – to your work of non-fiction.

• Buzz a book trailer you have or an online video interview up on your site or a podcast of you reading from your book.

• Buzz If you like X and Y you'll love (Your Title here.)

Those are just a handful of ideas. The possibilities of what you might want to say to booksellers, librarians, bookclub members and readers are endless. If you need any help or want to brainstorm, we'll help.
