Dear Librarians,

Have you met Ímagine Purple, the young teacher-turning-detective? I've recorded her global adventures in The Picaresque of Ímagine Purple. This mystery series explores 1969, a tumultuous time when folks still marched for civil rights, men walked on the moon, and hippies clamored to Woodstock. With a penchant for daydreaming, Ima also flashes back to much earlier historical periods.

When her husband gets assigned to Vietnam, Ima assigns herself to the Last Passenger Train Across Newfoundland. Having grown up reading tales of Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes, she finds this a perfect time to practice solving real mysteries. Her wits, intuition, and observation skill help in tackling cold and current cases. As this is a picaresque, Ima's noble plans usually get thwarted by rascals. Perhaps the worse is the vamp Vanna, a pretty con-artist who appears in multiple Imasodes, creates quagmires, and disappears, leaving Ima to pick up the pieces. My readers love to hate Vanna.

Though the Appendices have idioms, lookups, and vocabulary, my motto offers readers a choice: Have Fun. Get Smarter.™ No judgment! Visit the website to see maps and synopses of Ima's travels, to correspond through email, plus to enter the contest for a signed copy.

Always,

Beth Fine
