Leslie Margolis

Dear Librarian:

"There are people who make things happen, people to whom things happen, and then there's everyone else: those who hang around and watch. I've been watching for too long and that's got to change – now." —Maggie Brooklyn from GIRL'S BEST FRIEND.

Maggie Brooklyn is all about adventure and agency. She's inspired by two of my favorite characters: Harriet the Spy and Nancy Drew.

Like traditional sleuths, Maggie cares about truth and justice. But she's got plenty of regular-kid dilemmas, too: a secret crush on a cute boy, a sometimes-annoying twin brother, and an ex-best friend who's still super-mean.

My goal is to write books about smart and thoughtful kids for smart and thoughtful kids. Books that last on the shelves and in readers' minds. I hope I accomplished that with GIRL'S BEST FRIEND: A MAGGIE BROOKLYN MYSTERY. Please let me know!
