Dear Librarian: While writing my new YA novel BEAUTIFUL, I felt captured by the story, characters and themes. I explored what is beautiful on the inside, the outside and throughout all of life. I hope readers will be lost in the story as well. I had fun adding an anonymous teen blogger and the ever-present conversations in text messaging to further capture teen life today. However, the core of the story is timeless: girls searching for their place in the world while seeking their own worth and unique beauty. Ellie is beautiful, driven and going places; and she's running from her inner fears. Her sister Megan is the creative outcast and wears the bad girl label well.
