Rose Kent
Dear Reader:
When I visit schools, "book talk" inevitably leads to "food talk". Kids perk up when I tell them that kimchi is a spicy Korean cabbage dish, and that calamari is made from squiggly squid. They laugh about how Joseph, my main character (who, like two of my children, is Korean & adopted) describes himself as an "ethnic sandwich". And then they share stories on how they feel "sandwiched" by mixed ethnicity, divorce, friend conflicts, pressure to be superstars, etc. Food & story bring us together and give us plenty to talk about.
In celebration of November, National Adoption Month, I'm offering autographed copies of KIMCHI & CALAMARI to lucky readers. Email me at www.RoseKent.com by Nov. 25th as to why you would be a "delicious" choice to win. I love to hear from readers. And good news: KIMCHI & CALAMARI arrives in paperback next March!
Here's to happy reading and tasty eating,
Rose Kent

ps Be sure to watch for my next book, Rocky Road (Knopf Publishers, June 2009). This sweet story about achieving against the odds is set in an old-fashioned ice cream shop!
