Chris Fabry

Dear Librarian,

Dreams are dangerous things. Billy Allman had one and realized it. But he was like every person who searches for a place in the world.

Last year a caller to my radio program told me about Billy. He lived at a radio station in Lost Creek, WV. His story so captivated me that I decided to base a story on his dream, his life, and the difficulties he might have faced. I think it's one of my best.

For those who enjoyed my novels Dogwood and June Bug, they'll be thrilled to see Natalie and some other recurring characters that populate the world of Almost Heaven.

Though Dogwood, WV is fictional, it's really where I grew up. The nearest library was miles away, but I spent most of my summer days reading novels and roaming the hills where these stories originally took root.

Thanks for your work. You make a difference every day.

Sincerely,
Chris Fabry
