Linda Mercadante

Dear Librarian,

A few years ago, I wrote a short story essay on the funeral of my father, at which I gave the eulogy. It spoke of the mixed marriage he and my mother had and how it was put to rest at his funeral. This essay was published in The Christian Century and I was amazed to receive many notes and e-mails from around the country praising it and indicating how helpful it had been for others in exploring their own backgrounds. This made me think that the entire story might be helpful for people, especially those from some kind of mixed background whether that was bi-racial, bi-ethnic, or bi-religious. I hope to give readers a sense of the struggle this journey entails, some encouragement along the way, and a prompting to seek for their own spiritual identity.

I'd like to invite you to visit my book's web site as well.

Thank you,
Linda Mercadante
