Frederick Smith
Dear Librarian,
I have a confession.
I always felt like I was "the only one" growing up. Libraries helped me discover I wasn't. As a teen, the library was my safety and sanctuary, where I was able to read books by James Baldwin, James Earl Hardy, and E. Lynn Harris, that I couldn't necessarily read anywhere else. Thanks for your direct and indirect role in shaping many people's identities.
With RIGHT SIDE OF THE WRONG BED, I've written a fun book, but also a thoughtful book.
It's a smart and stimulating novel that takes us on a wonderful ride through black and Latino gay couples in Los Angeles. It addresses the question - when opposites attract and differences arise, can a couple keep the romance going, or are they simply two people waking up on the right side of the wrong bed?
I call it the "dysfunctional couples who don't know they are, but all their friends and family know" book. I'm sure you, or someone you know, can relate.
If so, I think you'll enjoy the "boymance" of Kenny Kane and Jeremy Lopez in RIGHT SIDE OF THE WRONG BED. You may even enjoy my first novel, DOWN FOR WHATEVER, also published by Kensington Books.
Also, I'd love to schedule a visit with your library's book clubs and reading groups. I can do workshops, readings, interviews, panel discussions, etc... for any of your programming and event needs. I'm based in California, so West Coast is easiest for travel. Everything else is possible. Let's talk.

A few blurbs about RIGHT SIDE:
"Funny, touching, and intoxicating. Smith has written yet another compulsive read." - Maurice Jamal, writer and director of Dirty Laundry and The Ski Trip
"Reads like real life... this smart and touching novel just won't entertain you. It'll make you think and perhaps remember." - Black Artemis, author of Burn
All the best,
Frederick Smith
