Dear Librarian, The idea for SHEER ABANDON came from a newspaper cutting about a girl who'd abandoned her baby, and apart from it being a wonderfully powerful theme for a novel, I was touched and surprised by the reaction of people to it. All my books are "what ifs;" this seemed to me one that no woman would be able to ignore or set aside. What would make a mother—any mother, whatever her situation—abandon her new born baby and determine to move on into a life where no-one must ever know about it? Countless readers have told me how absolutely involved they became in the characters and their journey . I hope you enjoy it; and I hope you will want to lead other readers to it.
