Dear Librarian, HEIRS OF CAIN has a long and tortuous history, beginning as a poem I wrote in 1969 after returning from Vietnam. The novel was originally completed in 1992, only to sit on the shelf like a lost soul for more than a decade. Two years ago, I brought HEIRS OF CAIN out of the dustbin, hoping I would have better luck this time around. I revised, updated, and expanded the original story in order to make it more current in today's post–Twin Towers world. Fortunately, the publishing gods were on my side. HEIRS OF CAIN is a thriller about a legendary assassin who must track down a former colleague who has been hired to kill the U.S. president and the three top Middle East leaders.
