Dear Librarians,

Eighteen years ago a librarian asked me where I'd go if I could go anywhere. I answered, she disappeared, and when she came back she held the first book in Jane Yolen's Pit Dragon series. That story changed my life. I've always believed that a good book is a new world, and that young people are especially sensitive to the power of that transportation. But it's people like you who provide them with the tools to discovery, and for that I will always be grateful.

Now as an adult, I dream of creating my own worlds for people in need of them, and hope that I can be of help to librarians as mine once found help from Yolen in opening up a young mind.

Not too long ago a teenaged boy with a bad case of bed hair and an impossible machine strapped to his arm popped into my head, and I needed to know why. What followed as I tugged on the thread of his story was the most exhilarating trip of my life.

CITIZEN SIM kicks off a fresh new YA sci-fi series that combines the best of The Matrix and Ender's Game with a brand new voice and a breakneck pace that will keep you turning pages until the very last. I hope you love reading it as much as I loved writing it.
