My Grandma Hanneh used to sit me down on the bed, hold my hand, and tell me the most amazing stories inspired from The Arabian Nights, adding her own spice and colour. I read different versions long before I wrote my own. Some were in Arabic, others in French or English. I wanted my version to have a distinct Arabic flavour.
I chose stories that showed how women were clever, beautiful, helpful and wisenot just liars and cheats like King Shahriyar thought. Queen Scheherazade saves the lives of all the women in the kingdom. She changes the heart and mind of a very bitter man, making him a good king.
For me, THE ARABIAN NIGHTS is one of the most precious collections of stories that were given by the Arabs to the West. Click here to learn more about THE ARABIAN NIGHTS. Send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org for a chance to win a signed copy.
