Angela Davis-Gardner
Dear Reader,
An American woman teaching in Japan receives a surprising gift when her mentor dies: a chest of homemade plum wines wrapped in papers she cannot read.
PLUM WINE is a novel I'd wanted to write ever since I taught in Japan, years ago. With that beginning, it became a complex love story involving the American and a translator, a survivor of Hiroshima.
The novel received great reviews and was featured on NPR. But for me the most exciting responses have been from readers. A woman in Hawaii finished the book by candlelight after the recent earthquake because she could not put it down. A book club in Connecticut said that after a lively discussion, "we
toasted you with plum wine."
I'd love to hear from you, too! Feel free to contact me for book club events by e-mailing: bdpublicity@randomhouse.com. Click here to win a free
