Dear Reader,

Dear Readers,

RIVER RISING, my most recent novel, is set in Louisiana during the great flood of 1927. Written over a year before hurricane Katrina, its setting and events are as timely as the headlines.

The novel follows Hale Poser, a stranger with a bad hip who is looking for his roots. Pilotville, Louisiana at first appears to be an island of brotherly love amidst a sea of racism. But in pursuit of a missing child, Hale uncovers a lingering evil. The rain falls, the levees break, and only a miracle can stop this awful flood.

Critics have been unanimous in praising RIVER RISING. Publisher's Weekly calls it "atmospheric, well-paced and powerfully imagined," and Kirkus Discoveries dubs it "a subtle yet captivating mystery."

If you like spiritually-themed mysteries, read RIVER RISING. Also, Bethany House Publishers is giving away five free copies. For a chance to win, click here.

Thanks for reading,
