Dear Reader, A TV documentary on free-range chickens gave me the idea for SWEET RETURN. What could be more appalling to a Texas cattle rancher than seeing grazing land turned into a chicken yard? When Joanna Walsh was offered rent-free land by a friend for an organic egg farm, it seemed like a good idea. Who knew the friend's wandering oldest son, a photojournalist, would return home to help in a family crisis and hate the chickens? After his being gone so long, who knew he would return at all? That conflict is only one that Joanna and Dalton Parker face. He thinks she's a con artist. She thinks he's a jerk. But when she learns an abusive childhood kept him away from Texas for years, she longs to show him why returning home can be so sweet.
