Reaching you gives me a great deal of pleasure, because the book is about heroes. I'd like as many people as possible to hear this story. We sometimes forget what we have within us. War stories help remind us. World War II can be made to sound romantic today, but this book mixes that mood with the reality of men dying of courage, and for the right cause, at sea and in the air. It tells the story of one young woman bravely fleeing Nazi-occupied Norway with her three-year-old son, to be with her husband in the American Merchant Marine. Meanwhile, he boards a sinking tanker and brings the ship in to Malta, saving the island and enabling the Allies to keep the Persian oil out of Hitler's hands. When they come together right, romance and reality make history. I'd like to think that AT ALL COSTS has found a piece of history that changed the war, if not the world.
