Richard Paul Evans

Dear Reader,

When I was nine years old, I was climbing a tree with my older brother when he grabbed a seven-thousand volt power line. There was a loud zap, and my brother's limp body fell past me to the ground below. I ran for help. When I returned with my mother, my brother was motionless. I'll never forget seeing the deep, grotesque imprints on his fingers: like melted candles. To our relief, he suddenly began to cry.

My grandfather had what Christians call 'gifts of the Spirit' more particularly, the gift of healing. That night, my grandfather blessed my brother's hand to heal without scar. Only a week later, when the doctor removed the bandage, there was no evidence of any injury

"There is a greater power at work here," the doctor said.

I've always wanted to write a book about healing-of the spirit as well as the body. THE GIFT is that book. Like last year's Finding Noel, and the book that began my writing career, The Christmas Box, THE GIFT is a Christmas story. I hope you enjoy this new book and find your own gifts in it as well.

Sincerely,
Richard Paul Evans
