Dear Reader, As a way of thanking my customers at The Mysterious Bookshop for their loyalty, I commissioned an original story by Donald E. Westlake. The only parameters were that it had to be set in the Christmas season, that it have a crime or mystery, and that at least part of the story be set in my bookshop. It was then printed and bound into a handsome chapbook and given to my customers as a little holiday gift. This proved so popular that it became an annual tradition. After seventeen years and seventeen stories by some of the most popular mystery writers in America, they have been collected in what I believe is one of the most charming books of the holiday season–the perfect stocking-stuffer.
